Power BI

Power BI is Microsoft's business intelligence tool for turning raw data into reports and dashboards people can explore. Teams use it to replace manual spreadsheet reporting with reports that refresh on their own and can be shared across a company. This Power BI training course takes you from connecting to data through to publishing reports that other people rely on.

What the course covers

• Getting data in: connecting to files, databases, and online sources, then cleaning and reshaping the data with Power Query.
• Data modeling: building relationships between tables, laying the model out as a star schema, and understanding why a weak model produces wrong numbers.
• DAX: writing measures and calculated columns, working with filter context, and building the time-based calculations most business reports need, such as year to date and year over year.
• Reports and dashboards: choosing the right visual for each question, laying out a report so it reads at a glance, and adding slicers, filters, and drill-through so users can explore.
• Sharing your work: publishing to the Power BI service, scheduling data refresh, and controlling who can see what.

Available live online or on demand. Your instructor is Masood, a senior data engineer with 20 years of experience across financial services, telecommunications, e-commerce, and healthcare. He works with Power BI and Tableau alongside the data pipelines that feed them, so the course looks at how to get the data behind a report right as well as how to build the report.
